LOVE NEVER FAILS
If I can do what Mother Theresa did for the needy in India, but I have no love I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I know all the mysteries in heaven and on the earth, but have no love, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. “If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing” (1 Corinthians 13:3 –NIV).
LOVE IS NOT SELF-SEEKING
Min Sun was one of Confucius’ disciples. He lost his mother at young age. His father remarried. His stepmother did not love him. She only cared for her child, and clothed him very warm, while Min Sun himself suffered the cold. Min Sun’s father did not notice her behavior until, one day in winter, Min Sun could not push his father’s wheelchair. At that time, he realized that his wife had maltreated her stepson. He then wished to divorce her. Min Sun suggested that his father should not divorce her because, without her, he and his half-brother suffered, and with her in the family, only Min Sun suffered. When his stepmother heard his logic, she was touched, and started to love him like her own child.
LOVE IS KIND
The Bible recorded a story that we can use as a mirror that reflects our own heart. One morning, the teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought a woman before Jesus. They said she committed adultery and asked what he would do with her. The Lord Jesus did not want to answer them, and since they kept on questioning him, finally he said to them, "If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.” Following are some of the loving kindness.
